My first experience with BL was a NaruSasu fanfic I stumbled across very accidentally when I clicked a link in the comments. There wasn’t any feeling of immediate disgust, because I just never had any experience with LGBTQ representation before this due to my parents religious upbringing. That fic was my jumping pad to search up and learn more about the LGBTQ and myself in depth. Fandom was very peaceful, had a lot of “weeaboos”, but generally had a very positive reception towards BL. In general though, the anime fans in my country are very “live and let live”, because it’s not a very numerous population.
